Foreign Employment Fills Gaps in Unwanted Jobs: Minister's Statement

In response to a query posed by a lawmaker regarding the Ministry of Manpower's strategies to ensure a majority of the newly generated jobs this year are secured by Singapore citizens and residents; Tan emphasized the need for targeted measures to address this concern.

During his address to Parliament on Tuesday, Manpower Minister Tan See Leng highlighted that the notable increase in foreign employment last year primarily comprised positions that weren't preferred by Singaporeans. According to a report by Channel News Asia, Singapore witnessed a growth of 88,400 jobs in the previous year, out of which 83,500 were occupied by non-residents (foreigners).
