In a surprising turn of events, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has withdrawn from the 2024 presidential race, just two days before the New Hampshire primary. In an announcement, DeSantis stated, "We don't have a clear path to victory," as reported by Xinhua news agency.

DeSantis, in a video message, revealed his decision to endorse former US President Donald Trump. He explained that he was throwing his support behind Trump because it had become evident that "a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance."

This decision comes on the heels of DeSantis experiencing a substantial 30-percentage-point loss to Trump in the Iowa caucuses. Trump secured the lead with 51 per cent, leaving DeSantis in second place with 21 per cent. The endorsement by DeSantis adds an unexpected twist to the dynamics of the Republican primary race.
