'Can no longer support Democrats as they have become party of division, hate': Elon Musk announces support for Republicans

Elon Musk has criticised Joe Biden and his administration very often and a few days back he had said, “Biden’s mistake is that he thinks he was elected to transform the country, but actually everyone just wanted less drama.”  He has also criticised the Biden administration for its proposal to tax billionaires and give more incentives to union-made electric vehicles.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday said that the Democrats have become a party of division and hate and therefore, he can no longer vote for them. Musk added that earlier he voted for Democrats but now he will vote for Republicans.

“In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican. Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold,”  tech Billionaire tweeted.

Musk’s Tesla does not have unions at its US factories.

In 2021, Tesla moved its headquarters from California to Texas. However California is considered as Tesla’s biggest market in the US. Not just this, billionaire Musk also moved his personal residence from California to Texas, where there is no state income tax. Adding to this, he has sold Tesla stock of nearly $25 billion worth since last year in order to pay taxes and finance his proposal to acquire Twitter.

Post his tweet in support of the Republicans, Tesla stock fell by 6.8% on Wednesday. Additionally Tesla was removed from a closely watched sustainable index.

Not just this, Tweets taking jibes at Elon as being ‘poor Elon’ started trending on microblogging site. This made her mother Maye Musk tweet against trolls in order to defend her son.

Maye criticised a few tweets against her son, for their nasty comments and alleged they were ‘troll or bot’ directing to fake accounts.

Earlier Musk openly talked about lifting Twitter’s ban on former US President Donald Trump, who is a Republican. He has time and again accused Twitter of being far-left biased since it is headquartered in California, a state known for its progressive politics.
