Elon Musk Admits Regret Over Trump-Related Posts: ‘Went Too Far…'

The estrangement started after Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, had distanced himself from the advisory position in the government and criticized the latest tax bill proposed by the Republican Party. Billionaire businessman Elon Musk turned to his social media site X to apologize for some of his recent tweets attacking U.S. President Donald Trump. The apology follows a week of increased tension and public sparring between the two well-known men.

"Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT! Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out," Musk posted on the incendiary message, which was taken down by X on June 7.

On June 11, Musk issued a follow-up post, dialing back his tone: "I regret some of my tweets last week regarding President Donald Trump. They crossed the line."

Tensions seemed to abate slightly the day before, on June 10, when both sides appeared to call a ceasefire. Addressing the press, President Trump was quizzed on whether he would be reaching out to Musk. He responded, "I haven't given it much thought actually.". I suppose he must want to talk to me. If I were him, I would want to talk to me. Possibly he's already phoned. You'd need to ask him. We got on very well and I just wish him well, actually very well."

Soon after this clip had spread on X, Musk simply replied with a solitary heart emoji, suggesting that the hostility is dissipating.

Their spat had grown stronger after Musk decried the Republican-supported "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," calling it "outrageous, pork-filled," and "a disgusting abomination." He called for lawmakers to reject the bill in total. Trump retaliated with a tongue-lashing, stating Musk had "gone crazy" and "lost his mind," going so far as to threaten federal funding for Musk's enterprises, including the possible removal of SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft from NASA missions.

Musk's most recent conciliatory tweet indicates that the feud may be finally coming to an end, potentially marking the termination of one of the most discussed public feuds between political and tech power in recent history.
