Expressing deep concern, two independent experts appointed by the U.N. released a statement on Monday, highlighting the disturbing nature of the growing body of evidence related to sexual violence. The allegations include acts of sexual torture such as rape, gang rape, mutilations, and gunshots to genital areas.

The experts argue that these actions constitute severe violations of international law, qualifying as war crimes. Given the scale of victims and the meticulous planning of the attacks, they assert that these acts may also amount to crimes against humanity.

Regardless of ethnicity, religion, or gender, the experts stress the importance of recognizing and acknowledging each victim, asserting their commitment to being the voice for those affected.

Israel's diplomatic mission in Geneva welcomed the U.N. statement, urging the international community to fully recognize the brutal and terrorist nature of Hamas. They called for accountability for those who have shielded Hamas, including the Palestinian Authority.

In the past, Israel has criticized the international body for insufficiently addressing the issue, attempting to garner greater acknowledgment of the alleged crimes.

The two U.N. experts on torture and executions, Alice Jill Edwards and Morris Tidball-Binz, have engaged with Hamas authorities on the matter. Simultaneously, they have communicated with the Israeli government, seeking cooperation with their investigative efforts.
