‘Deeply Touched,’ Says PM Modi After Meeting Indian Community in Brazil

The Indian community has warmly welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he reached the capital of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, on Monday.

Deeply touched by the warm and lively welcome from the Indian community upon arriving in Rio de Janeiro. Their energy reflects the affection that binds us across continents, the Prime Minister wrote.
In the pictures, Indian diaspora members were seen waving Indian flags and showing some photos to the Prime Minister. And some showed him their paintings and other memorabilia.

Earlier, PM Modi arrived in Brazil after he completed the first leg visit to Nigeria where he met Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with whom he shared talks aimed at streamlining partnerships in defense, technologies, healthcare, and education.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the G20 Summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro under the leadership of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

PM Modi, in an Instagram post, said: "Just arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to join the G20 Summit. Look forward to the deliberations of the summit and constructive discussions with several global leaders."
India is one of the three important members in the G20 Troika with Brazil and South Africa and has been a key influencer in the discussion at this summit.

He will outline India's positions on global issues of great consequence, but will also continue from where the important outcomes from G20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration and Voice of the Global South Summits, hosted by India over the last two years, stand.

Earlier on Friday, the statement from MEA also said, "On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, the Prime Minister is expected to meet several leaders.".

Even after the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Modi will make a visit to Georgetown. It is going to be the first visit by an Indian PM to Guyana after 1968.

Bilateral talks and visit to other senior leaders of Guyana, Prime Minister Modi will call on the Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali on November 19-21. He will have bilateral talks and see other senior leaders of Guyana, apart from addressing the Parliament of Guyana and a gathering of the Indian diaspora.

Last year, Ali visited India when he was the Chief Guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held in Indore where he was also awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman.

"In Georgetown, Guyana, the Prime Minister will also attend the Second CARICOM-India Summit and meet with leaders of CARICOM member countries to further enhance India's long-standing friendship with the region," the MEA added.
