China Warns US Against Imposing ‘Hegemonic Logic’ on Beijing

In response to a media question regarding a US report that classified China as the greatest military and cyber threat, Guo refused the allegations as irresponsible and subjective.

China called on the United States to shed its "hegemonic logic" and Cold War thinking in dealing with China-US relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday in Beijing.

In response to a media question regarding a US report that classified China as the greatest military and cyber threat, Guo refused the allegations as irresponsible and subjective. He also blamed the US for employing these reports to circulate the "China threat" theory and pursue attempts to hold China back and preserve its global hegemony.

"China's development is following historical logic and internal momentum," Guo said. "We aim to enhance the well-being of the Chinese people and help the world, not to overtake or replace any nation."

On the issue of Taiwan, Guo reasserted that it is absolutely China's internal matter. He reaffirmed Beijing's strong opposition to "Taiwan independence" and reiterated China's resolve to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

We are calling on the United States not to impose its hegemonic thinking on China or view our relations from a Cold War perspective," he said. "The US must end support for 'Taiwan independence' groups and stop exaggerating the 'China threat.' Instead, it needs to make specific actions to create stable and healthful China-US relations.

The comments, as quoted by Xinhua news agency, are made as tensions between the two world powers continue to surge over military, economic, and geopolitical matters.
