As tensions between Pakistan and India have been escalating all along, word comes that Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has occupied major Pakistani army posts in the Balochistan province capital Quetta.

According to BLA sources, Pakistani forces have retreated, losing grounds in the vital parts of the city. Sound of explosions and gunfire was also heard around sensitive military installations such as the headquarters of the Frontier Corps.

This militant action by the BLA contributes to the increasing number of challenges for Pakistan on many fronts. India foiled Pakistan's military on Thursday evening when it tried to attack various military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and other places using missiles and drones. The scenario between the two countries has turned more intense with fears of an expanded military clash.

Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, Kupwara, and many other places had reports of sirens and explosions as the Indian army carried out a large-scale aerial surveillance mission along the border. Following the interception of Pakistani attacks by India's military, a defence ministry official stressed that India is "completely ready to protect its sovereignty and provide safety to its citizens." The official affirmed that Indian military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were attacked by Pakistani drones and missiles. "The threats were effectively neutralized through the employment of kinetic and non-kinetic approaches in line with prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs)," the official further said.

The BLA's Quetta offensive comes after a series of major attacks. On Tuesday, the organization took responsibility for two Bolan and Kech district bombings that killed 14 Pakistani army soldiers. In Bolan, a remote-controlled bomb hit a convoy of Special Operations Commander Tariq Imran and Subedar Umar Farooq in the Shorkand region, killing all 12 soldiers in it. A bomb killed two more personnel in the Bomb Disposal Squad in Kech.

In the afternoon of Thursday, India's defence ministry informed that the nation's military forces had repelled Pakistan's efforts to strike 15 cities in northern and western India with drones and missiles. The Pakistani military had attempted to target places such as Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.
