Awami League Leader Thanks India, Claims Sheikh Hasina Set to Return as PM; Calls Youth Vote a 'Mistake'

In an interview with news agency ANI, he also made scathing attacks on Muhammad Yunus, chief advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh, calling him to "go back where he came from."

Rabbi Alam, a close aide to deposed Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and vice president of United States Awami League, claimed on Wednesday that Hasina would take back her place as the nation's leader.

In an interview with news agency ANI, he also made scathing attacks on Muhammad Yunus, chief advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh, calling him to "go back where he came from."

'Bangladesh is Under Attack'
Alam expressed serious reservations regarding the current situation in Bangladesh, describing it as political unrest and more. He called on the international community to act, stating that the nation is under threat.

"Bangladesh is under attack, and it needs to be addressed by the international community. A political uprising is fine, but that is not what has been going on in Bangladesh. This is a terrorist uprising," he stated.

‘Grateful to PM Modi’
He also acknowledged the support extended by the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly in ensuring a secure passage for Sheikh Hasina and providing shelter to Bangladeshi leaders.

"Most of our leaders are protected here in India, and we are highly grateful to the Indian government for offering the alignment. I also thank PM Narendra Modi for offering a secure travel route for our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We are grateful to the people of India," Alam said.

'Sheikh Hasina Will Return as PM'
Looking back at student-led demonstrations which turned violent earlier last year and eventually resulted in Hasina being ousted, Alam said the youths had been "misled" into committing a blunder. He again confirmed that Hasina's return was inevitable and hit out at Muhammad Yunus and said he was not entitled to be in Bangladesh.

"We wish to call the Bangladesh Advisor to resign and return to where you originated. You, Dr Yunus, have no place in Bangladesh. This is the message to the people of Bangladesh: Sheikh Hasina is returning, she is returning as the Prime Minister," he asserted.

Addressing the country’s younger population, Alam stated, "The young generation, you’ve made a mistake, you’ve made some bad decisions, but that’s not your fault—you were manipulated."
