Authorities in New York City have identified the individual responsible for hurling a cup of hot coffee at Ashish Prashar, a 40-year-old Indian-American, and his 18-month-old son while they were at Edmonds Playground in Brooklyn on November 7.
Prashar, who shared the update on a social media platform, mentioned that the New York Police Department (NYPD) had identified the woman and issued an arrest warrant for her.
According to Prashar's account given to the New York Daily News, the incident unfolded when a woman, identifying herself as an American Jew, confronted them upon seeing Prashar wearing a keffiyeh, a traditional Palestinian men's headscarf. She made derogatory remarks and accusations related to Hamas and terrorism, escalating her verbal assault by hurling her phone and then a cup of hot coffee when Prashar began recording the encounter.
Expressing his priority of safeguarding his son, Prashar recounted to CNN the escalation of the situation and the need to ensure his son's safety.
Despite the intense verbal attack and the physical assault with hot coffee, neither Prashar nor his son sustained any injuries.
While the NYPD has refrained from disclosing the woman's identity, they confirmed she is a local resident.
Prashar, described as a political strategist, activist, and writer, has recently focused on shedding light on the plight of children in Gaza affected by the Israel-Hamas conflict through his social media posts.
In his latest post, he lamented the devastating impact on children and condemned the situation as systemic genocide rather than a war.
