Amid Reports Of Trump's Falling Health, JD Vance Says He Is Ready To Be New US President

His statement comes amid constant speculation regarding the president's health. There have been concerns raised in recent times after Trump was seen having a noticeable bruise on his hand during his visit to the office of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.

Amid reports of Donald Trump's worsening health, Vice President JD Vance on Thursday said that he is ready to take over the office of President of the United States in case a "terrible tragedy" takes place. During an interview with UA Today, Vance reiterated that while Donald Trump continues to be "in great health," he is ready to step in should the need arise.

Seeking to calm the public, JD Vance reiterated once again that the President is in good shape and perfectly able to serve out the remainder of his term.

“I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people,” the US VP told USA Today.

He added that if tragedy strikes, he has had the best "on-the-job training" and would be ready to step in as POTUS.

"And if, God forbid, there's a terrible tragedy, I can't think of better on-the-job training than what I've gotten over the last 200 days,” the 41-year-old said.

The White House had previously brushed aside physical concerns related to the bruise, claiming it was from "frequent rigorous handshakes and aspirin." The mark was said to have first appeared in July but was covered with foundation at the time.

On Friday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also released a statement, again confirming the explanation that it was from shaking hands.

“President Trump is a man of the people and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other President in history. His commitment is unwavering and he proves that every single day," said Leavitt.

According to Dr. Sean Barbabella, physician to the president, Democrats have noted Trump has chronic venous insufficiency, a "benign and common condition, especially in older age cohorts, especially in those greater than the age of 70."

The diagnosis was made in July after social media posts made by the president went viral, showing distinctly swollen lower legs.
