The tragic events of October 7 took the lives of Roee and Smadar Edan, leaving behind their young children in devastating circumstances. Roee, a photographer with Ynet news in Israel, rushed outside to capture the unfolding events, unwittingly leaving his family vulnerable to a brutal attack by Hamas.
During the attack, Smadar was tragically killed, and Roee sustained fatal injuries, passing away later in the hospital. Amid the chaos, their four-year-old daughter Avigail was abducted by the Hamas.
In the face of terror, Avigail's older siblings, Michael (9) and Amalya (6), showed remarkable courage. They managed to hide for nearly 14 hours in a closet within their home, only speaking to an ambulance staff member who instructed them to stay quiet and await assistance from "good people."
Now, Avigail, along with her siblings Michael and Amalya, is in the care of her uncle and aunt. The profound loss and trauma this family has endured are truly heartbreaking, and their resilience in the face of such tragedy is a testament to their strength.
