She said the documents seized were being assessed for damage they can cause, if unsealed and becoming public. In a letter to House Oversight Committee Chair Carolyn Maloney and House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff, Haines said her office will do a damage assessment of the documents. "The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) are working together to facilitate a classification review of relevant materials, including those recovered during the search," Haines wrote in the letter obtained by Politico.

On Friday, Trump took to TruthSocial, his social media app, to ostensibly rejoice that the document was "heavily redacted" before pointing out that "nothing mentioned on 'nuclear'" and a "total public relations subterfuge by the FBI and DOJ".

The discovery of those classified documents � including 67 marked as "CONFIDENTIAL," 92 as "SECRET" and 25 as "TOP SECRET" � formed the body of evidence that the Justice Department cited in the FBI's search warrant that was approved by a judge on August 5 � three days before the FBI raid on Trump's home at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump is reportedly having a hard time retaining the "best people" to represent him as he faces multiple lawsuits and a federal investigation, but the latest move from Trump left everyone wondering if his team is even awake at the wheel, media reports said.

In a statement on Monday, Trump's attorneys said the documents are "presumptively privileged" material because they were generated while he was President, reports dpa news agency. According to the former President's team, only a "special master" -- an independent person appointed by a court to review materials -- could determine whether the material is privileged.

While questions focussing on the investigation remain unanswered -- specifically whether Trump himself was the target of the probe -- legal pundits across the political spectrum were quick to highlight similarities, and differences, between the search of the former president's home and the FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails, media reports say.

Trump demanded release of the full unredacted affidavit underlying the FBI raid on his Florida residence. Laura Ingraham said it could be time to start looking for someone who has Trump's politics, but not the baggage, should he decide to run again in 2024. "The country, I think, is so exhausted," she told podcaster Lisa Boothe of The Hill. "They're so exhausted by the battle, the constant battle, that they may believe that, well, maybe it's time to turn the page if we can get someone who has all Trump's policies, who's not Trump," Ingraham said.

In the raid by the FBI of Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else," Trump wrote on Monday on the Truth Social network he co-founded, dpa news agency reported. "This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never seen before in our Country. Third World!" It remains unclear why Trump only spoke out about this a week after the search of his property in the US state of Florida. The raid followed suspicions that Trump may have violated the Espionage Act and other laws by taking classified documents from the White House when he left office in January 2021.

Trump took to his social website Truth Social to claim that the FBI could have planted evidence during the raid earlier this week on his Mar-a-Lago residence, without however backing up his claim with any shred of evidence. His accusation came on the back of what some sources told The Washington Post last Thursday that classified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents were looking for in Florida.

These documents are part of a potentially criminal violation of the Espionage Act and a few other laws. They included four sets of top secret documents, three sets of secret documents and three sets of confidential documents, according to an inventory of items seized by FBI agents. Some of these documents were marked "classified/TS/SCI" documents "shorthand" for "top secret/sensitive compartmented information". Among them was also a document about France's President Emmanuel Macron.
