Iranian FM says Vienna talks on "good path"

In an address to the media on the sidelines of a Tuesday ceremony, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that "we have a unified and joint text, on which the Iranian negotiating team is focused," Iranian Foreign Ministry reported on its website. The Iranian top diplomat added that the other parties to the deal are also focused on the issues "we placed in the text," which are those the sides have differences on, Xinhua news agency reported.
Russia officially withdraws from Open Skies Treaty

"Decades of fruitful implementation of the treaty showed that it has served well as a tool for strengthening confidence and security, creating additional opportunities for an objective and unbiased assessment of the military potential and military activities of the participating states," Xinhua news agency quoted the statement issued on Saturday as saying.
UNGA defers action on representatives of Afghanistan, Myanmar

The current representative of Afghanistan, Ghulam M. Isaczai, was appointed by former Ashraf Ghani government before the Taliban takeover in August, reports Xinhua news agency. While the Myanmar representative, Kyaw Moe Tun, was appointed by the elected National League for Democracy government prior to the February 1 military coup.

The agency warned in its Socio-Economic Outlook for Afghanistan that the economic base for the poorest country in Asia has long been, too, small to support its population of 40 million, Xinhua news agency reported. "This new socio-economic assessment on Afghanistan estimates that restricting women from working could result in an immediate economic loss of up to $1 billion, or up to 5 per cent of the country's GDP," said UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner.
