Ukraine receives howitzers from Germany
"German Panzerhaubitze 2000s with trained Ukrainian crews have joined the Ukrainian artillery family," Reznikov wrote on Facebook on Tuesday. The supply of PzH 2000 is an example of cooperation in support of Ukraine, he added. Apart from PzH 2000, Ukraine uses five types of 155-mm artillery, namely M777, FH70, M109, AHS Krab and Ceasar howitzers, the Minister said.
39 ships from 14 countries blocked in Odesa
The news was confirmed by Maksym Marchenko, head of the Odesa Oblast Military Administration, during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky in the southern port city on Saturday, reports Ukrayinska Pravda. During the meeting, discussions also took place on ways to organise a corridor for the export of agrarian and industrial products from the ports. Marchenko also informed the President on the consequences of missile strikes by the Russian forces on the city.
Ukraine secures release of civilians captured by Russians in Kiev region
In a statement on Saturday, the Chief Intelligence Directorate under the Defence Ministry, said: "Today, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War conducted another five-for-five exchange. Five citizens of Ukraine returned home. All those released were civilians who had been illegally detained by the Russian occupying forces. Four of the civilians were taken prisoner by the occupiers during the fighting in Kiev Oblast, three of them during the occupation of Hostomel."
Ukraine to introduce visa regime for Russian citizens
The decision was adopted at the request of President Volodymyr Zelensky, Xinhua news agency quoted Shmyhal as saying in a social media post on Friday. Earlier in the day, Zelensky said the country has decided to end visa-free travel for Russian citizens due to the "unprecedented threats to the national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity" of Ukraine.

US to provide $1 billion additional security assistance to Ukraine
In a statement, the White House said that Biden made the commitment during a phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday. Biden said that the new security assistance for Ukraine also includes additional artillery and coastal defence weapons, as well as ammunition for the artillery and advanced rocket systems.
Canada to provide further military aid for Ukraine
In a news release, the defence minister said this military aid, valued at approximately 9 million Canadian dollars ($7.2 million), complements Canada's previous donation of M777 howitzers, over 20,000 rounds of compatible artillery ammunition, and the Canadian Armed Forces' training of Ukrainian Forces in the use of this equipment.
Every bridge leading to key Ukrainian city destroyed
In a social media post on Monday, Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haidai said all three bridges into Severodonetsk were destroyed and the residents remaining in the city were being forced to survive in "extremely difficult conditions", the BBC reported. For several weeks now, Severodonetsk has witnessed fierce battles as Russia is now concentrating on capturing the entire eastern part of Ukraine.
Putin compares himself to Peter the Great to take back Russian territory
In his comments, Putin argued that Peter the Great was not conquering, but rather fighting over territory that rightfully belonged to Russia. He went on to draw a parallel to today's war in Ukraine, suggesting Russia's recent military actions -- where his troops have destroyed Ukrainian cities, and killed thousands of innocent men, women and children -- are justified, because Ukraine is not a legitimate sovereign nation, but in fact Russian territory.
