US recalls cable saying India & UAE 'in Russia's camp'

The US State Department has recalled a cable to American diplomats that instructed them to inform counterparts from India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) their position of neutrality on Ukraine put them "in Russia's camp", Axios reported. The recall of the strongly worded cable indicates either a process error with a fabled and vital work product — or a policy dispute inside the US government involving two key allies.
UAE plans to buy L-15 aircraft from China

The UAE Ministry of Defense has said that it plans to buy 12 L-15 aircraft from China, state news agency WAM said on Wednesday, Al Arabiya reported. The Ministry will sign a contract with the China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC) to purchase the aircraft, with the option of buying 36 more aircraft in the future, according to WAM.

On Tuesday midnight, it was the second consecutive day of airstrikes by the coalition that hit the al-Siyanah maintenance camp in central Sanaa, Xinhua news agency reported citing al-Masirah TV. The explosions smashed windows of nearby houses and sent a fire which could be seen from downtown.
UAE intercepts 2 ballistic missiles as tensions with Houthis intensify

The Defence Ministry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that it intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles fired by Yemen's Houthi militia. Monday's launch, which came a week after a deadly Houthi attack on the UAE's capital Abu Dhabi on January 17, caused no casualties, as the ballistic missile fragments fell in several locations around Abu Dhabi, Xinhua quoted the official Emirates News Agency citing a statement of the ministry.
Israel to offer UAE security, intelligence support against Houthi attacks

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett wrote on Twitter that he "strongly condemn" the drone attack by the Iranian-backed Houthis near Abu Dhabi's airport, which killed at least three people and injured six, Xinhua news agency reported. "Israel stands with the UAE. I stand with (Crown Prince) Mohammed bin Zayed. The world should stand against terrorists," Bennett tweeted.
2 Indians feared killed in drone attack in UAE, Houthi rebels claim responsibility

As per the Abu Dhabi police, three persons -- two Indians and one Pakistani, were killed. Besides, six others were injured. "An important statement will be announced in the upcoming hours to reveal details on the strategic operation deep inside the UAE," said the Houthi rebel group's spokesman Yahya Saree in a brief press statement on Monday. A minor fire also broke out in the new construction area of Abu Dhabi International Airport, according to the WAM.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi admitted that one of the reasons the fund was set up was because some of the member countries were not willing to channel assistance through the Taliban government, the report said. The announcement of the fund was part of the measures the 57-member Islamic bloc agreed upon after the 17th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC hosted by Pakistan.

The sale of 50 F-35 warplanes made by Lockheed Martin to the UAE had slowed amid concerns in Washington over Abu Dhabi's relationship with China, including use of Huawei 5G technology in the country. 'Technical requirements, sovereign operational restrictions, and cost/benefit analysis led to the re-assessment,' a UAE official said to the Wall Street Journal.
