Shares of Trump's company Digital World Acquisition Corp went up in the after-hours trading after Google's decision. Google said in a statement that it permits apps on the Google Play Store as long as they "comply with our developer guidelines, including the requirement to effectively moderate user-generated content and remove objectionable posts such as those that incite violence", reports CNBC.

According to TechCrunch, the micro-blogging site is gradually rolling out a feature to restrict sensitive tweets unless users have a birthdate attached to their accounts and are over 18. "We are constantly iterating on our work to give people more choice and control over their experience, as well as to make Twitter safer for everyone," a company spokesperson was quoted as saying.
