Havells India confirmed that the search operation was carried out by the DRI, an agency responsible for curbing smuggling and investigating cases of commercial fraud.

While the high growth is showing up in comparison to a very low base of minus 0.7 per cent in August 2022, when the country's industrial production had actually contracted, it still reflects a welcome turnaround.

The expansion in August is the highest since June 2022, when it was 13.2 per cent. In July, the number stood at 8.4 per cent.

For July 2023, the quick estimates of index of industrial production (IIP) with base 2011-12 stood at 142.0.

The production of coal, steel, natural gas, cement, electricity, refinery products, fertilisers and crude oil increased in July 2023 over the corresponding month of last year.
