Facebook developing AI, new ways to detect users under age 13

Facebook and Instagram weren't designed for people under the age of 13, so the company is now creating new ways to stop those who are underage from signing up. "We're developing AI to find and remove underaged accounts, and new solutions to verify people's ages. We're also building new experiences designed specifically for those under 13," said Pavni Diwanji, VP of Youth Products at Facebook.
Twitter Spaces update makes it easier to share, discover live audio

Now, users will be able to compose a new tweet directly from the Space, which will link to the audio chat and any accompanying hashtags, reports Engadget. While it was previously possible to compose new tweets while listening to a Space, having the composer directly in the Space will allow participants to more easily tweet about the conversation as it's happening.

Twitter shuts US offices, tech giants in huddle after new CDC rules

"Twitter has made the decision to close our opened offices in New York and San Francisco as well as pause future office reopenings, effective immediately," a company spokesperson told TechCrunch on Wednesday. Facebook expects significant growth slowdown for rest of 2021

The social network, which reported $29.08 billion in revenue for the second quarter with daily active users (DAUs) at 1.91 billion, said that it expects slower growth in the third and fourth quarters of 2021. Twitter tests notification banner for suspended, locked accounts

These are currently in testing across a small percentage of Twitter users on iOS, Android and the web, a Twitter spokesperson was quoted as saying by The Verge. "The company is testing this feature after getting feedback from users that they realised they were suspended or locked and in read-only mode only after trying to tweet or follow new accounts," the spokesperson added.
Instagram makes accounts for users under 16 private by default

Instagram said it is rolling out these changes in the US, Australia, France, the UK and Japan to start and will look to expand to more countries soon. Starting this week, everyone who is under 16 years old (or under 18 in certain countries) will be defaulted into a private account when they join Instagram. Instagram will show users a notification highlighting the benefits of a private account.
