Samsung's upcoming foldables may power 'Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus' chipset
According to a prominent tipster Ice universe, the company's much anticipated foldables will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. "I confirm again that Fold 4 and Flip 4 will use TSMC Snapdragon 8 gen1 plus (SM8475)," the tipster tweeted on Friday. Several reports have stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will house a 4,400mAh battery as its predecessor. However, Z Flip 4 is said to have a bigger battery than the Flip 3.

Samsung Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee has recently discussed the topic with a number of employees and reaffirmed the company's plan to roll out "Samsung's version of the metaverse," according to the sources. Apple iPadOS shipments (sell-in) fell 6 per cent (year-on-year) to 15.8 million units in Q1 2022, with worldwide market share climbing 1.7 percentage points to 39 per cent as the tech giant outpaced the market, according to market research firm Strategy Analytics. Samsung led the Android market with only a 1.2 per cent decline in Q1 2022 to 8.2 million units. Its market share increased by 1.8 percentage points to 20 per cent during the same period.
Samsung likely considering price cuts for upcoming foldable phones
According to TheElec, Samsung was reviewing using batteries from Chinese battery maker Amperex Technology Limited (ATL) for its upcoming foldable smartphones. The company is likely considering including ATL as a supplier for its foldable phones to save on costs as analysts expect Samsung to lower the price tags of its latest foldable phones launching later this year.
