Russia suspends mission to NATO
Russia's Ambassador to Belgium will be authorised for emergency contacts with the NATO headquarters, while an envoy of the NATO member states in Moscow can perform similar functions, Xinhua news agency quoted the Ministry as saying in a statement on Monday. Russia is also suspending the activities of the NATO Military Liaison Mission in Moscow and the accreditation of its staffers will be revoked on November 1.
US will not join Afghanistan talks hosted by Russia
The US Department of States spokesperson Ned Price has told the reporters that the US won’t participate in the Moscow talks. He said in a press briefing “ the Troika-plus has been an effective, a constructive forum. We look forward to engaging in that forum going forward, but we're not in a position to take part this week." Russian fighter escorts US bomber above Sea of Japan
Russian radars on Sunday detected an air target approaching the Russian border over the Sea of Japan, and a MiG-31 fighter from Russia's Eastern Military District took off in response, Xinhua news agency quoted the Ministry as saying. The Russian crew identified the air target as a US Air Force B-1B strategic bomber, before escorting it away.
Taliban rejects Putin's claim of IS presence in Afghanistan
Addressing a virtual summit of the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) on Friday, Putin said that Russian data has revealed that 2,000 IS fighters are in the north of Afghanistan, TOLO News reported. The Russian leader added that the IS "terrorists seek to enter the territory of the Commonwealth under the guise of refugees".
