60,000 evacuated from Sumy; 20,000 from Kiev: Ukraine govt

The Ukrainian government has said that in the last two days, 60,000 people were evacuated from the besieged region of Sumy and 20,000 others from Kiev amid the ongoing war. In a video address on Thursday, Iryna Vereschuk, Minister of the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, said: "We have evacuated more than 60,000 people from Sumy, Trostyanets, and Krasnopillya to Poltava over the last two days.
Google to send air raid alerts to Android users in Ukraine

Google has initiated air raid alerts for Android users in Ukraine directly on their phones before expected attacks happen near them. At the request, and with the help, of the government of Ukraine, Google has started rolling out a rapid Air Raid Alerts system for Android phones in Ukraine. "This work is supplemental to the country's existing air raid alert systems, and based on alerts already being delivered by the Ukrainian government," said Kent Walker, President, Global Affairs at Google.
FB, Insta allow posts asking for Putin's death in specific countries

In a rare exception amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Meta is allowing posts with violent speech toward Russian soldiers on Facebook and Instagram in specific countries, including calls for harm or even death of Russian President Vladimir Putin or Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
Russia hits back with export bans

Russia has hit back at western sanctions for invading Ukraine by imposing export bans on a string of products until the end of 2022, BBC reported. The ban covers exports of telecom, medical, vehicle, agricultural and electrical equipment, as well as some forestry products such as timber. The economy ministry said further measures could include restricting foreign ships from Russian ports.
We have not criticised India's position on Ukraine: German Ambassador

Stressing that Germany has not criticised India's position on Ukraine, the German Ambassador to India, Walter J. Lindner told IANS that the German government has not put any pressure on India or any other country to take sides on the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict. He however stressed that no country has the right to invade a neighbouring one with a massive army, impose its will, change borders and cause death and destruction.
Russia says maternity hospital has been under control of Ukrainian paramilitary group

The building had been used as a base by the far-right Azov Battalion of the Ukrainian National Guard, the top Russian diplomat claimed on Thursday, during a press conference in Turkey, RT reported. The hospital in question has been for days under the control of a Ukrainian paramilitary group and Moscow presented evidence of this to the UN Security Council several days ago, Lavrov said.
Moscow's forces move within a few miles of Kiev outskirts

Kremlin troops launched two attacks on Kiev on Wednesday - one via the besieged western city of Irpin and another through the eastern district of Brovary, with video showing how a column of Russian tanks was bombarded with artillery in a devastating ambush and forced to turn back. Intercepted radio chatter suggested the column took heavy losses with the regimental commander killed, though that could not be verified.
Russia leaves Council of Europe

Russia has left the Council of Europe, the continent's leading human rights organisation, the Foreign Ministry in Moscow announced on Thursday. In a statement, the Ministry said that the European Union and NATO countries "are using their absolute majority in the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers to continue the destruction of the Council of Europe and the common humanitarian and legal space" on the continent, reports Xinhua news agency.

Ukraine labs carried out experiments with samples of coronavirus in bats: Russia

Russia's Defence Ministry has claimed that experiments were carried out with samples of coronavirus from bats in biological laboratories in Ukraine. Konashenkov said the Ministry would soon publish another package of documents on secret military biological activities of the US in Ukrainian territory and present the results of their examination.
