Russia announces completion of 1st stage of military operation in Ukraine

The main tasks of the first stage of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine have been completed in general, the Russian military has said. "The combat potential of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been significantly reduced," said Sergei Rudskoy, first Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, on Friday. "Our forces and means will concentrate on the main thing -- the complete liberation of Donbas," he added.

In a video address posted on Facebook early Saturday morning, the President said: "Over the past week, our heroic Armed Forces have dealt powerful blows to the enemy, significant losses." Zelenksy also made a reference to the reported disappearance of Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, who was last seen in public on March 11.

It is celebrated every year with a military parade, which in recent years has become more imposing and grand. The fund has resources in the amount of at least $2.4 billion, Xinhua news agency quoted Igor Kirillov, chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defence Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, as saying. The US Agency for International Development, the George Soros Foundation, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were also involved in the funding and development of these programs, he added.

NATO approves deployment of four new battle groups

The four new battle groups deployed along eastern part of the NATO alliance were approved on Thursday, Xinhua news agency reported. In total, there will now be eight NATO battle groups deployed along the eastern flank of the alliance, from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. The organisation's heads of states were called for an extraordinary meeting to discuss further support for Ukraine, in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict that started in February.
India abstains 6th, 7th time on Ukraine resolution; UNGA throttles S Africa resolution

The Assembly approved a resolution on the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine proposed by that country criticising Russia's role, but it throttled another put forward by South Africa that did not mention Moscow. India's Permanent Representative T.S. Tirumurti said at the Assembly's emergency session that New Delhi abstained on the resolution proposed by Ukraine because it "did not fully reflect" India's expected focus on "on cessation of hostilities and on urgent humanitarian assistance".

Sri Lanka not able to print textbooks due to shortage of paper and diesel, power cuts
