Frequent injuries to players a major concern as injured Rohit Sharma set for early return home

India will play the inconsequential third and final One-day International against Bangladesh without the injured skipper Rohit Sharma, who hurt his thumb in the second ODI, and will fly to Mumbai to consult an expert.

The skipper copped an injury to his finger in the second over of Bangladesh's batting innings while attempting a catch. The ball hit his thumb and he was seen bleeding as he walked off. He didn't come out to open the innings as well, with Virat Kohli replacing him as Shikhar Dhawan's partner at the top.

Rohit suffered the injury in the second over when he attempted to take a catch at second slip of Anamul Haque off pacer Mohammed Siraj. Siraj pitched the length ball outside the off-stump and Haque hung his bat in the corridor without any footwork. The ball went to Rohit, who could not hold on to it as the ball dipped on him, despite trying to get both hands to it.

"Every time you play a game, it is a preparation for something that is going to come in the future. But the (ODI) World Cup is still eight to nine months (away) from now. We can't think so far ahead.
