Appointment of OBCs in direct recruitment more than 27%: Union Minister Jitendra Singh

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that whether people belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) are lagging in deriving benefit of 27 per cent reservation in the Central services, the Minister said, this data was based on the information provided by various Ministries/Departments of the Central government, including their attached/subordinate offices.

BJP to give a big push to its Uniform Civil Code plan ahead of 2024

The BJP government in Uttarakhand has constituted a committee to look into the implementation of the UCC and Gujarat Chief Minister-designate Bhupendra Patel, too, has expressed himself in favour of the UCC. In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP listed the implementation of the UCC in its manifesto, but it lost the state elections.
RS witnesses uproar over introduction of private member's bill on UCC

The bill was introduced by BJP member Kirodi Lal Meena. A total of 63 members voted for the bill while 23 votes were against it.The Congress, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, and the DMK staged protests while the Biju Janata Dal walked out of the House.The UCC has been in the BJP manifesto for many elections while the private member bill was pending but was not introduced.

The Places of Worship Special Provisions) Repeal Bill, 2022, The Uniform Civil Code in India Bill, and Bill to repeal the Waqf Act, 1995 are scheduled to be tabled. BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena will introduce a Bill to provide for the constitution of the National Inspection and Investigation Committee for preparation of Uniform Civil Code and its implementation throughout the territory of India and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
AIIMS to make 'special medical care arrangements' for sitting MPs

All patients referred to the AIIMS by MPs will be provided due assistance by the Media & Protocol Division, reads a letter from the AIIMS being circulated on social media. "Duty Officers (who are qualified medical professionals) from Deptt. of Hospital Administration will be available in the Control Room AIIMS Hospital round the clock and the Duty Officer on duty will be the Nodal Officer to coordinate & facilitate requisite medical care arrangements for sitting MPs," reads the communication from the AIIMS to Joint Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat.

BJP's IT Cell head Amit Malviya praised the decision and tweeted, "The President on recommendation of GoI has appointed Shri Gulam Ali, a Gurjar Muslim, from J&K, to the Rajya Sabha. This is a significant step assuming that prior to abrogation of Article 370, the community was literally not recognised and all social benefits to them were denied."
