Sanjay Singh said all the notices were rejected and alleged that the government was stalling the discussion on Adani row. He had demanded suspension of business under rule 267 on Wednesday too, but the notice was rejected by the chair after which the AAP staged a walkout. The notice said that the public sector banks and LIC have lost money.

"The parliamentary democracy survives on ruling of the chair and once the ruling has been given it can't be questioned as there are codified rules for it," said Dhankhar. "My ruling has been continuously disregarded," he added.

According to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, in 13 sittings, the functional time was 64 hours and 50 minutes against the total scheduled time of 63 hours and 26 minutes, while the productivity was 102 per cent.In the 13 sittings, 82 starred questions were answered, and response to 1,920 unstarred questions were tabled.

Quoting her speech, the Chairman on Friday said in the Upper House that he is being accused of "undermining judiciary". He said all the issues of bipartisan role should be settled within and assured that he will not look either way.

Two judges can't sit and decide such social matters. There should rather be a debate in Parliament and society, he asserted during Zero Hour in the upper house. He alleged that some liberals are following the West blindly.

He was speaking in the Rajya Sabha and demanded a statement from the Prime Minister. He said, "The valour of our Armed Forces in Galwan Valley, Ladakh is well-known. But China has brazenly transgressed into our territory since April 2020. The illegal and unprovoked Chinese transgressions up to Y junction in Depsang Plains continue till date."

The BJP government in Uttarakhand has constituted a committee to look into the implementation of the UCC and Gujarat Chief Minister-designate Bhupendra Patel, too, has expressed himself in favour of the UCC. In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP listed the implementation of the UCC in its manifesto, but it lost the state elections.
