'Quad is not Asian NATO': Here's what Jaishankar said at Munich Security Conference

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on Saturday dismissed the notion that Quad grouping is Asian NATO. He was participating in a panel discussion on 'A Sea Change? Regional Order and Security in the Indo-Pacific' at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2022. Jaishankar opened up on a wide range of topics including China's aggression in Indo-pacific. China takes aim at Quad, saying it provokes confrontation

China has criticised the Quad as a "small clique" that is "bent on provoking confrontation" and warned that it will be to their "detriment". China's Permanent Representative Zhang Jun told the Security Council on Thursday that the US "has been ganging up in the Asia Pacific region, creating trilateral and quadrilateral small cliques, and bent on provoking confrontation".
'India committed to rules-based international order': US on New Delhi's position on Ukraine

“We know that our Indian partners are committed to that rules-based international order. There are any number of tenets to that order. One of them is that borders cannot be redrawn by force, that large countries cannot bully small countries; that only the people of a particular country can be in a position to choose their foreign policy, their partnerships, their alliances, their associations,” State Department spokesperson Ned Price said
China responds to Jaishankar's remarks on LAC stand-off, says both sides should abide by agreements

“On the border issue, China always maintains that we should follow through on treaties and agreements we signed and we jointly uphold peace and tranquility at the border region… We hope the two sides will continue to maintain communication through military and diplomatic channels to resolve the outstanding issues,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said.
US calls India 'driving force' of QUAD

“We recognise that India is a like-minded partner and leader in South Asia and the Indian Ocean, active in and connected to the Southeast Asia, a driving force of the Quad, and an engine for regional growth and development,” said White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. The United States  has also emphasized upon building a strategic partnership with India to ensure regional peace and stability.

“… it’s (border standoff) an issue in which a lot of countries legitimately take interest, particularly if they are from the Indo-Pacific region. And because the situation has arisen due to the disregard by China in 2020 of written agreements with us, not to amass forces at the border. So, when a large country disregards written commitments, I think it’s an issue of legitimate concern for the entire international community,” EAM said in a joint press brief after a bilateral meeting with his Australian counterpart.

It also sent a strong message to the Taliban and was echoed during Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi address when he said that it was absolutely essential to ensure that Afghanistan's territory is not used to spread terrorism and for terrorist activities. Modi also warned Pakistan that using terrorism as a "political tool" was an equally big threat for them as well. And quite rightly so.
