When his reaction to Kishor's comment was sought on Friday, Nitish Kumar said: "Don't take his (Kishore's) name in front of me in the future. I gave him respect when he was with me. Now he is making statements against me. He speaks for his own publicity and can say whatever he wants. I don't want to comment on his statements."

"I will never go with them (BJP) for my entire life. The previous leaders of BJP like Atal ji (Atal Bihari Vajpayee), Advani ji, (L.K. Advani), Joshi ji (Murli Manohar Joshi) were the real leaders who believe in work. The present leaders of the BJP are only talking and have nothing to do with working," CM Nitish said during the inauguration of an engineering college at Samastipur.

"People like him (Amit Shah) do not have any contribution in the country. He does not know the history of the country. They do not have knowledge about Jayaprakash Narayan ji. They get the opportunity to stay in the government. Hence, they are giving statements against me," Nitish Kumar said while offering tributes to socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia at his statue in Patna on his death anniversary.

Upon returning from Nagaland late on Tuesday night, , Nitish Kumar retorted to Home Minister Shah saying, "I don't give any importance to the outbursts of Narendra Modi or Amit Shah. Have they contributed to the JP movement in any way? Sadly, people who have nothing to do with the freedom struggle are talking about the JP movement. Who knew Modi before 2002," Kumar said while pointing towards Gujarat riots of 2002. It was in the light of these riots that Modi made headlines.

"Prime Minister is following Jaya Prakash Narayan's ideology. Due to the efforts of the Prime Minister, the electricity reaches every house of the country. He is providing LPG cylinders under Ujjwala Yojana, health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh and 5 Kg free food grain to poor people," Shah said after inaugurating a 14 feet tall statue of the socialist leader at his birth place Manfar village in Sitab Diara on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

"Whatever Prashant Kishor said for me is absolutely false. I never offered him a post in our party. I have nothing to do with his statement. He is free to say whatever he wants. Prashant Kishor came to me 4 to 5 years ago and suggested that I merge JD(U) with the Congress party," Nitish Kumar said, while speaking to reporters in Jayprakash Narayan's birthplace, Sitab Diara. Following his statement, Prashant Kishor retaliated, and said that "older age reflected on his works and statements".

We will sit together in Delhi and make a strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha election," Nitish Kumar said after distributing appointment letters to the persons selected in Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department.

The two leaders will brief the Congress chief about the initiatives taken to unite the opposition parties against BJP in 2024. Nitish Kumar had met Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Arvind Kejriwal, and Sitaram Yechury on his previous Delhi visit. The meeting gains significance as opposition leaders had come together to pay tribute to former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal in Haryana.

NCP's Sharad Pawar, Bihar Chief Minister and JD-U leader Nitish Kumar and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Badal, among several Opposition leaders, shared the dais at the rally organised by the Indian National Lok Dal, and gave a united call to out the BJP government in the Centre.
