Scam dark period of NSE history, says court denying Ramkrishna anticipatory bail
The Delhi court, which dimissed the anticipatory bail plea of National Stock Exchanges's (NSE) former Managing Director and CEO Chitra Ramkrishna in the fraud case, termed the scam as a "dark period" in the bourse's history. The Rouse Avenue Court's order, accessed by IANS, shows that the court was not happy with the conduct of Ramkrishna as NSE chief.

On February 24, the CBI arrested Anand Subramanian, the ex-Group Operating Officer of NSE. He was later sent to CBI's custody till March 6. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the NSE fraud has been making efforts to find fresh clues to reach the mysterious Himalayan Yogi, with whom the classified informations were shared by Ramakrishna.

Among stocks, Tech Mahindra, Asian Paints, HDFC Life, Dr Reddy's, and Shree Cement were the top five losers in the afternoon session, down 4.8 per cent, 4.7 per cent, 3.6 per cent, 2.9 per cent, and 2.9 per cent, respectively.

Sensex settled 1.4 per cent or 778 points down at 55,468 points, whereas Nifty 1.1 per cent or 188 points down at 16,606 points. "The escalation of war drowned the global market, alarming the Indian market to start with substantial weakness. The negative effect was more on large-caps in-line with weak Q3 GDP data and downgrade of FY22 growth to 8.9 per cent from 9.2 per cent, by National Statistical Office (NSO)," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services.

'Yogi' fraud: Subramanian's 'missing' laptop in focus, officials tight-lipped
Contacted by IANS, the officials were tight-lipped yet revealed that they were trying to get new facts.
Sources privy to the probe conveyed that the CBI is currently working on two lines - they are trying to recover a laptop which was reportedly destroyed by Subramanian. If this was actually destroyed, then they will try to recover the data.
Equities recover from losses to settle in green; Nifty metal top mover
After recovering during the afternoon session, India's key indices -- S&P BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 -- on Monday managed to extend its gains to settle in the green. The indices opened sharply lower on Monday to later recover its entire losses to trade in the green during the closing hours, riding on the reports that Russia and Ukraine are likely to hold peace talks.
