Rupee ends 24 paise down at 79.80 against US dollar

"Rupee traded in mixed range in the week between 79.25-79.95 closing the week on a flat but broadly weak note, as dollar index and FII's selling pressure added resistance to rupee whereas Crude price fall and domestic sector performance along with banks positive momentum gave support to the rupee," said Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst at LKP Securities.

Indian markets will be closed on Wednesday on account of Ganesh Chaturthi. "Rupee gained strongly by 0.40 points as heavy short covering was witnessed in capital markets from FIIs. As benchmark rose 2.50 per cent in Indian capital markets, hence rupee time gained more than 0.50 per cent for the first time in the month of August," said Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst at LKP Securities.
Indices erase early trading losses, but still trading lower

Sensex was trading 835.72 points or 1.42 per cent down at 57,958.15 and Nifty was trading 250.30 points or 1.43 per cent down at 17,308.60. HCL Technologies, Infosys and Tech Mahindra were trading down more than 3.5 per cent on the BSE. On Friday, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell signalled the US central bank is likely to keep hiking interest rates and keep them elevated to tame inflation.
Delhi court denies bail to Chitra Ramkrishna in NSE co-location scam case

On August 25, CBI Special Judge Sunena Sharma of Rouse Avenue Court had reserved the order on the bail plea of Chitra Ramkrishna after hearing the arguments of the petitioner and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing the case.
Insider trading compliance is being track by NSE

As per SEBI's regulations on insider trading prohibition, listed companies have to maintain a structured digital database (SDD) to store UPSI, which includes a range of information like financial numbers, business plan, decision to sell off a factory, merger, demerger, dividend etc that can move the stock price.
Page Industries stock hit Rs 50,000 apiece on multi-fold jump in net profit

At 1.21 p.m., shares of Page Industries were trading at 49,103.00, up 91.00 or 0.19 per cent. On Thursday, Page Industries reported a multi-fold increase in its net profit in Q1FY23. The company reported net profit of Rs 207.03 crore, as against just Rs 10.94 crore in the same period last year. The revenue from operations during the quarter under review was at Rs 1,341.26 crore.
Indian stock markets rise on Thursday

The Indian stock indices went up on Thursday with the BSE Sensex gaining 1,041.47 points and the NSE Nifty 287.80 points. The Sensex closed at 56,857.79 points while the broader Nifty closed at 16,929.60 points. On Wednesday, the BSE Sensex had closed at 55,816.32 points and the NSE Nifty at 16,641.80 points. The gainers on the bourses were largely finance, banks and software companies.
CBI wanted to know about Ken Fong's letters: Sucheta Dalal on NSE scam case

In her statement to the media, Dalal said she had told everything to the CBI. She said that Abhinav Khare, SP CBI, and Pushpal Paul had contacted her to seek the information. "Just before the New Delhi meeting, I was told that they wanted to record my statement before Pushpal Paul. On asking Mr Khare, he told me that it was about 'Ken Fong'. This is the name used by the whistleblower.
NSE Co-location Scam: CBI seizes digital devices from brokers after raids

The raids were conducted at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Gurugram, Gandhinagar and other parts of the country. "We have recovered a few digital devices, documents and other relevant things. We have recorded the statements of a few brokers. In coming weeks, they can be asked to join the investigation," said a CBI source. The source said that the digital devices and documents collected during the raids have been sent for forensic examination.
