The ruling, which took immediate effect, saw members of the previous Parliament, including Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem, taking office, Xinhua reported citing Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). The decision came after the Constitutional Court ruled that the election process in September 2021 in all the five electoral districts was null and void.

During the meeting on Saturday, the Minister handed a letter to Sisi from Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, including the recent developments of mediation efforts to reach reconciliation between Qatar and the quartet comprising Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Egypt, Xinhua news agency quoted the Egyptian presidency as saying in a statement.

The Kuwaiti economy which is based on oil faces a deficit up to $46 billion this year, and it is expected that the government may pass the public debt law that would allow it to borrow 20 billion Kuwaiti dinars (about $65 billion) over 30 years, while the law was rejected by the previous Parliament.

During a meeting with the emir at Bayan Palace, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah expressed gratitude for the appointment, reiterating commitment to the constitution and laws to serve the best interests of the country and citizens.
