Bhupender Yadav, Sonowal and Mandaviya in Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are members of the CCS. The Prime Minister and Home Minister are members of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs is headed by the Prime Minister.
Terror funding case: NIA team arrests several persons in Kashmir
The NIA team along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF raided several places in Anantnag and Srinagar districts in connection with the case registered 10 days ago relating to the radicalisation in the Indian subcontinent. Besides, NIA, Intelligence Bureau, RAW (Research and Analysis Wing), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police were jointly involved in the search operations.
4 terrorists killed in two encounters in Kashmir
Police said that two terrorists were killed in an encounter at Puchal area of Pulwama district during a joint operation by the police and the army while in a second encounter two terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT were neutralised in a joint operation of Kulgam police and 01 RR at Zodar area of Kulgam.
Anurag Thakur allotted plum I&B portfolio
Apart from Information & Broadcasting, Thakur, who had been the BCCI chief in the past, has also been allotted the Youth Affairs and Sports portfolio. The I&B portfolio was earlier with Prakash Javadekar, who is out of the Cabinet now. Sports was held by Kiren Rijiju, who will now be the Law Minister in the new-look Cabinet.

Vaishnaw succeeded Ravi Shankar Prasad in both ministries. Prasad was handling the IT Ministry since the Narendra Modi-led NDA government came to power in 2014, besides holding the Communications portfolio since 2019. A former IAS Officer of the 1994 batch, Vaishnaw handled important responsibilities over the last 15 years and was particularly known for his contribution to the PPP framework in infrastructure.

Top Hizbul commander killed in Kashmir encounter
Police said Mehrazuddin Halwai alias Ubaid was active in North Kashmir for several years and was involved in many acts of terror. "A contemporary of Hizbul Mujahideen's notorious terrorist Burhan Wani. While Burhan was engaged in series of civilian, security forces killings in South Kashmir, Mehrazuddin Halwai was involved in the killing of civilians, security forces in North Kashmir," police said.

2 terrorists killed in Kulgam encounter in Kashmir
"Two unidentified terrorists killed during Kulgam encounter, operation is in progress in Chimmer area," police said. The gunfight began after a joint team of the police and the army cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about presence of terrorists. As the security forces zeroed in on the hideout, they came under a heavy volume of fire, triggering the encounter.
Sikhs seek action against conversion of 2 girls in Kashmir
The LGPC held an emergency meeting on Monday evening and requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure action against those responsible for the incident and frame a law against such forced conversions. The All-India Sikh Pratinidhi Mandal (AISPM) also condemned the incident and sought the intervention of the Prime Minister, Governor of J&K and the National Human Rights Commission.
