5 JD-U MLAs merge with BJP in Manipur

Manipur assembly Secretary K. Meghajit Singh said Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh has accepted the merger of the five JD-U MLAs to the legislature party of BJP in the Manipur Assembly under the 10th Schedule of the Constitution. The five legislators who joined BJP are Khumukcham Joykisan Singh (Thangmeiband), Ngursanglur Sanate (Tipaimukh), Md. Achab Uddin (Jiribam), Thangjam Arunkumar (Wangkhei) and L.M. Khaute (Churachandpur).
After raids on 5 RJD leaders, Bihar Mahagathbandhan anticipates more action

The leaders of Mahagathbandhan are expecting more raids in the future, said sources. Nitish Kumar along with Governor Phagu Chauhan and deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav went to the statue of socialist leader B.P. Mandal to pay gratitude on his birth anniversary. On Wednesday, the CBI conducted multiple raids in Patna, Katihar, Madhubani and Gurugram on the houses and properties of five RJD leaders.
'All options open, including joining the BJP': RCP Singh

There is a buzz in the political circles that Singh might join the BJP and he is making a political pitch for himself before joining the party. "At present, I am on the road and taking the opinion of my supporters and the people. After discussion with my supporters, I will take the decision of joining the BJP," the former JD-U leader added. He visited Gopalganj on Thursday to meet his supporters. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and JD-U National President Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh levelled allegations against RCP Singh for his involvement in anti-party activities.

On Wednesday, neither deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav or any other minister from the RJD were not present at an event organised in the Bihar Vidhan Parishad which was attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with other ministers of the JD-U. Similarly, in another instance, state Agriculture Minister Sudhakar Singh as well as Disaster Management Minister Mohammed Shahnawaz Alam -- both from RJD quota, remained absent during an assessment meeting on state's drought situation. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

"The second leader was Harivansh Ji (Harivansh Narayan Singh) who is Vice Chairman of the Rajya Sabha at present. He has also given advice to Nitish Kumar to leave Mahagathbandhan and join NDA. Harivansh Ji was the only leader of JD-U who did not come to the meeting. When I contacted him on phone, he informed me that Nitish Kumar brought him into public life and he supports his decision," Lalan Singh said.

Both RJD and JD(U) thriving on OBC politics could not ignore such a significant issue and the hints were clear when Nitish Kumar started skipping Prime Minister's meetings, the latest being the NITI Aayog. But the other factor is that in the next General elections the BJP was trying to assert itself at the cost of its alliance partner the JD(U). This led to the parting of ways as an insider said that JDU and the RJD could not stop the BJP's rise in the state. It all started in May when Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar called an all-party meeting to discuss the caste-based census.
Six audios to prove 'treachery' by a party, claim JD(U) sources

Sources have said that the Janata Dal (United) top leadership has more than six audio recordings where its MLAs and a minister were given lucrative offers to rebel against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. However, it is not clear which party and leaders gave the offers to the JD(U) MLAs.
'JD-U ship sailing, not sinking': Lalan Singh hits out at R.C.P. Singh

"Yes, it is true that some of the people tried to make the hole in the bottom of ship to make it sink but we spotted it within time and repaired it," Lalan Singh said while accusing R.C.P. Singh of damaging the party but "our leader Nitish Kumar spotted his activities and did appropriate treatment". Earlier on Saturday, R.C.P. Singh said that the JD-U is a sinking ship as he also gave his resignation from the primary membership.
JD-U decides not to join Modi government over 'insufficient' berths

State Education Minister and JD-U leader Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said: "We are not going to join the Narendra Modi cabinet. The JD-U needed the desired respect from the BJP but it did not happen. Hence we have decided to avoid inclusion in the Narendra Modi government." However, he added that this decision "will not affect our alliance with BJP in Bihar".
