The saffron party has been unleashing scathing attacks on Nitish in the Legislative Assembly and at public meetings in the state. According to sources, the BJP is planning to expose Nitish and gain his votebank in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Under this strategy, the BJP which gave Nitish the title of Sushasan Babu.
Lalan Singh takes U-turn on Tejashwi as CM face in 2025

His statement came soon after Upendra Kushwaha resigned from the JD-U's primary membership and announced formation of a new political party. Kushwaha had opposed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's announcement to make Tejashwi Yadav the CM candidate in 2025 and the JD-U probably cames under pressure in wake of this. We have not decided who will be the CM candidate.

The decision was taken after a two-day meeting of his supporters in Patna's Sinha Library and the announcement was made at a press conference, during which Kushwaha also said that he will soon resign from the post of MLC as well. "I have requested the speaker to give me the time so that I can hand over the resignation letter to him.

It may be possible that the face of Upendra Kushwaha is unacceptable for some persons, but it is a different matter. I want to say that if any deal would happen with the RJD and Nitish Kumar.

"During the party election on December 5, 2022, there was only one poll held and that was for party's national President. No other polling took place to elect the President of the JD-U Parliamentary Board. Upendra Kushwaha is only a MLC of the party and not holding any post," he said in a media interaction here. After becoming the national President of the party, Lalan Singh said that there was no committee formed.

Ramcharitmanas row: RJD, JD(U) indulge in Twitter war

The JD(U) has been demanding action against the education minister while the RJD is backing him. On January 11, the education minister had claimed that Ramcharitmanas, written by Tulsidas, "spreads hatred and divides the society". Chandrashekhar Yadav has coined the slogan of "Tejashwi Bihar" and tweeted it from the official handle of the Education ministry.
