Concerned China extends hand of friendship to Indonesia

In the inaugural meeting of the China-Indonesia high-level dialogue cooperation mechanism held in Guiyang City on Saturday, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Indonesian President's special envoy and the country's Coordinator for Cooperation with China, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, that the two countries should leverage the new mechanism, and expand their cooperation into the maritime sector in addition to politics.

The Nanggala-402 submarine was broken into three parts at the depth of 838 meters under the sea, Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Yudo Margono said on Sunday, Xinhua news agency reported. "There, the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine was found in three big parts," he told a joint press conference, saying the next step is to lift the wreckage of the vessel with the help of foreign navies.

"We have been able to reach all the affected areas and there are no more isolated villages," East Nusa Tenggara's Deputy Governor Josef Nae Soi told a virtual press conference with the National Disaster Management Agency. Soi said several broken bridges have not yet been rebuilt, hampering economic activities.

The cyclone related deaths in the province were mostly reported in the districts of East Flores, at 72, Lembata, at 47 and Alor, at 28, reports Xinhua news agency. Six deaths were recorded in the provincial capital Kupang.

The spokesman, Raditya Jati, told Xinhua news agency that 44 victims were found in Flores Timur district and 11 others in Lembata district. He added that as many as 24 people were missing in Flores Timur district and 16 others in Lembata, he said.

Raditya Jati, a spokesman for the national disaster mitigation agency, said heavy rainfall since Saturday caused the flooding that hit East Flores district of East Nusa Tenggara province at 1 a.m. on Sunday, dpa news agency reported. Dozens of houses were buried by mud in Lamanele village, while in Waiburak village, floods swept away villagers' homes and caused a bridge to collapse.
