Though only 77.6 meters long and 10.5 meters wide, this vessel will pack a punch and be capable of hunting down and neutralising the enemy submarines lurking close to India's coast. After her launch, the ship will get outfitted with deck equipment, sensors and weapons systems before being delivered to the Navy.

Indian Navy to become 'Aatmanirbhar' by 2047, assures Navy Chief

Addressing a press conference on the eve of Navy Day (December 4), Admiral Kumar said: "The government has given us clear guidelines on Aatmanirbhar Bharat. We have given assurance that the Indian Navy will become Aatmanirbhar by 2047." On maritime security, he said the Navy is keeping a strong vigil on the movements of Chinese vessels in the Indian Ocean Region.

He also lauded the defence shipyards for strengthening the country's economy. "During 2021-22, the value of production of these shipyards was Rs 8,925 crore and profit after tax was Rs 928 crore. Presently, the order book position of these shipyards is Rs 81,777 crore," Rajnath Singh said.

Indian Navy ships Shivalik, Kamorta reach Vietnam

The Ministry of Defence said that Shivalik and Kamorta form part of the Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet based at Visakhapatnam. The two ships, designed and constructed in India, are equipped with a versatile array of weapons and sensors, carry multi-role helicopters and symbolise India's advanced warship building capabilities, the Navy added.

Navy launches new survey vessel 'Ikshak'

As per the Ministry of Defence, 'Ikshak' made her first contact with the water of Bay of Bengal at 10.40 a.m. at the launch ceremony graced by the Vice Admiral M.A. Hampiholi, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Naval Command. In keeping with the Naval maritime tradition, Madhumati Hampiholi, spouse of M.A. Hampiholi, launched the ship to the chanting of invocation from Atharva Veda.

US Secretary of Navy visiting India, to inspect IAC Vikrant

Officials said that Del Toro is scheduled to visit Indian Navy's Southern Naval Command at Kochi, wherein he would interact with its chief and visit India's first indigenous Aircraft Carrier, INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard. He will also meet Indian Navy chief, Admiral R. Hari Kumar, and high-ranking government officials in New Delhi.

Indian Navy plans to stop Chinese spy ship from entering India's EEZ

Though it is known fact that the Yuan Wang-6 is a spy ship of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), sent to the Indian Ocean Region to track India's missile tests from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast, she is officially registered as a research and survey vessel. While foreign vessels, including warships, can freely sail through the EEZ, Indian law forbids any survey, research or exploration there by a foreign nation without permission.
