India, US hold joint exercises to build 'high-calibre integration'

This is the first official word on Indian Navy's proactive deployments in wake of the tensions between India and China. Singh was speaking after inspecting the work on the country's indigenous aircraft carrier in Kochi. Eastern Naval Command inducts ALH Mk III helicopter

Three helicopters flew into the Naval Air Station, INS Dega, to signal their induction as '322 Dega Flight'. The ALH MK III helicopter is equipped with an array of systems, making it an all-weather, multi-role helicopter of the Indian Navy. The first helicopter was commissioned in the Indian Navy in April this year.
Defence Ministry clears Navy's mega deal for submarine procurement

Two Indian companies and five foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers had already been shortlisted earlier. The mega deal was approved during the DAC meet on Friday led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The mega submarine project for building of indigenous submarines for the Navy got the final clearance wherein two Indian companies that can work in collaboration with a foreign manufacturer.
INS Sandhayak to be decommissioned on Friday after 40 years

The decommissioning ceremony of INS Sandhayak will be held at the Visakhapatnam Naval Dockyard. It will be a low-key event to be attended only by in-station officers and sailors with strict observance of Covid protocols. Sandhayak was conceptualised by then chief hydrographer to the government, Rear Admiral F.L. Fraser, a Padma Shri awardee who had a strong desire for indigenously designed and built hydrographic survey vessels in India.
Cyclone Tauktae: Navy rescues 146 people from barge near Bombay High

The first lot of 60 personnel was rescued around 11 p.m. on Monday jointly by INS Kochi and OSV Energy Star in extremely challenging conditions in the Arabian Sea, around 175 km off Mumbai, which fell directly in the path of the Cyclone Tauktae which made landfall in Gujarat late Monday night.
Fire breaks out onboard INS Vikramaditya

The duty staff observed smoke emanating from the part of ship having accommodation for the sailors. The ship's personnel on duty acted immediately to fight the blaze and there are no reports of any casualties in the incident. "All personnel onboard have been accounted for and no major damage has been reported. An inquiry into the incident is being ordered," said the official.
Indian Navy deploys 'Oxygen Express' to Lakshwadeep islands

On Sunday morning, INS Sharda, based at Kochi, undertook the transfer of essential medical supplies to Lakshadweep's Kavaratti. The stores consisted of 35 oxygen cylinders, rapid antigen detection test (RADT) kits, personal protective equipment (PPE), masks and other items to fight the pandemic.

Navy's combat-readiness exercise Tropex-21 underway in IOR

The month-long drill will witness joint exercises by ships and aircraft and other assets of the Indian Air Force, Army and the Indian Coast Guard in the IOR, including its adjunct waters. "The drill started in early January and will culminate by the third week of February," the Navy said.
