India, Australian Defence Ministers discuss emerging regional issues

Software-based transfer policy for paramilitary forces soon

According to a senior official in the security forces, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Himalayan border guarding force Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) are ready with the software, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF) and Assam Rifles are in the advanced stage of development of the applications.
Defence ministry had no transaction with Israeli group

In a written reply to a question of parliamentarian V Sivadasan in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, Minister of State (Defence) Ajay Bhatt said, "Ministry of Defence has not had any transaction with NSO Group Technologies." The minister was replying to a query whether the government had carried out any transaction with the NSO Group Technologies. Sivadasan is a Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and member of the Upper House from Kerala.
Defence proposals of Rs 2.15 lakh cr for domestic industry: Govt

"In the last three financial years - from 2018-19 to 2020-2021, the government has accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) to 119 Defence proposals, worth Rs 2,15,690 crore approximately, under the various categories of capital acquisition, which promotes domestic manufacturing as per DAP," Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt told Loktantrik Janata Del Rajya Sabha member M.V. Shreyams Kumar in a written reply.
3 KM radius of INS Rajali declared as 'No Fly Zone'

Individuals and civil agencies are prohibited from flying any non-conventional aerial objects -- drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) within these zones without any prior permission. Operators of these flying objects within the 'No Fly Zone' will be charged under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code. "INS Rajali will destroy or confiscate any non-conventional aerial object including drones or UAV found flying without proper approval," a statement said.
Defence Ministry clears Navy's mega deal for submarine procurement

Two Indian companies and five foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers had already been shortlisted earlier. The mega deal was approved during the DAC meet on Friday led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The mega submarine project for building of indigenous submarines for the Navy got the final clearance wherein two Indian companies that can work in collaboration with a foreign manufacturer.
India, Kyrgyzstan special forces start 2-week counter-terror drills

The exercise named, 'Khanjar', was inaugurated on Friday at the Special Forces Brigade of National Guards of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek. It is the eighth editions of the India-Kyrgyz Joint Special Forces Exercise. Initiated first in 2011, the two-week-long exercise focuses on high-altitude, mountains and counter-extremism.

Light Utility Helicopter gets initial operational clearance

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd HAL Chairman and Managing Director R. Madhavan said that thrust is being given by the HAL for indigenous research and development programmes towards self reliance and enhancing operational effectiveness of the armed forces. HAL Director Engineering and RD Arup Chatterjee said that the performance of the basic helicopter in all terrains and under all weather conditions is satisfactory.
Indian Navy receives 3 Mark III Advanced Light Helicopters from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

The helicopters are fully loaded multi mission helicopter is fitted with an array of advanced sensors. This will augment the Navy's responsibility for coastal security placed on it by the government after 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that claimed the lives of 166 people and left 300 others injured.
