The BCCI on Wednesday night announced that the India team currently taking part in the Under-19 World Cup in the Caribbean have reported COVID-19 positive cases following RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests. Six members out of the 17-member squad were put in isolation and subsequently ruled out of the selection for the Group B clash against Ireland.

1st ODI: Van der Dussen, Bavuma star in S Africa's 31-run win over India

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa were in a spot of bother at 68-3 but fighting centuries by Bavuma (110 off 143) and Van der Dussen (129 not out off 96) helped South Africa post a challenging 296/4 in 50 overs. Chasing a competitive target at the sluggish Paarl pitch, openers Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul gave India a good start. Dhawan, in particular, was the more aggressive of the two and he dealt in boundaries and took India to 24/0 after 5 overs.

India's Virat Kohli too has moved up two places to seventh after scores of 79 and 29 in his last match as Test captain against South Africa. India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's unbeaten century in the second innings has lifted him 10 places to 14th in the rankings for batters. India's pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah's six wickets have lifted him back to the top-10 in the rankings for bowlers.

On day 3 of the third test match between South Africa and India, Captain Kohli lost his cool after a decision declaring Dean Elgar LBW out was reversed by the DRS. “Focus on your team while they shine the ball. Not just the opposition. Trying to catch people all the time,” an irked Kohli was heard saying at the mic in a veiled reference to the major role which the broadcasters (Super Sports) played in the unravelling of the sandpaper-gate scandal back in 2018. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has let Virat go with a strict warning.

"Wicket looks a bit dry. Would like to make use of the best of the batting conditions. Hopefully it slows up and the slower bowlers can get in the game. Hard to get away from the high of the Tests. The opener, who is now part of the leadership group, feels the multiple ODI series this year will give the team a chance to experiment. "This year we will be playing a few one-day series, which will give us a chance to try out new things. We've all sat down as a team and had an honest talk about the things we need to improve and the things that we need to get better at.

The board said no replacement will be brought in for Rabada as there is an extended squad in place in the Bio-Secure Environment (BSE), but selectors have also added more cover in the allrounders department, in the form of left-arm spinner George Linde.
