SA spinner Keshav Maharaj named ICC Men's Player of the Month for April
Maharaj was at his brilliant best during the Proteas' recent two-match Test series against Bangladesh as he beat fellow South African Simon Harmer and Oman opener Jatinder Singh for the monthly award. It was a well-deserved award for Maharaj, who contributed 16 wickets for South Africa during the Test series and claimed the Player-of-the-Series award in the process.
India further cement lead at the top in ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings
India are now on 270 points, while the second-placed England have logged 265 points. Pakistam South Africa and Australia are the tied, fourth and fifth-placed teams with 261, 253 and 251 points, respectively. India have been in sublime form in the format, following their disappointment at the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in the UAE and Oman, where they failed to make the semifinals.
Australia continue to lead ICC Test rankings; extend lead over India by nine points
The International Cricket Council (ICC) released their annual update of the rankings on Wednesday and Australia now lead second-placed India by nine points with a rating of 128 points. The new rankings reflect all Test series completed since May 2019, with those completed prior to May 2021 weighted at 50 per cent and subsequent series weighted at 100 per cent.

Wasim Khan appointed as ICC General Manager of Cricket
The 51-year-old Khan, who was previously the Chief Executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Leicestershire County Cricket Club and Chance to Shine, will take over from Geoff Allardice who spent eight years in the role before his recent promotion to ICC's Chief Executing Officer. Meanwhile, Allardice welcomed Khan to ICC, saying that he will bring in-depth knowledge of the sport.

England pacer Anya Shrubsole retires from international cricket
The 30-year-old finished with 173 international games for England, picking 227 wickets and was also a part of two Ashes-winning and two World Cup-winning campaigns. Shrubsole bagged nine wickets at 29.66 at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022, during England's run to the final. Her best performance in the tournament came in the final against Australia, in which she registered figures of 3/46 in England's 71-run defeat.
No marked gains for Indians; Afridi climbs to No. 10 in T20I rankings for bowlers
India's all-format skipper Rohit Sharma is further down at 14th, while former skipper Virat Kohli is 16th. In the T20I Rankings for bowlers, Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi's 2/21 in the one-off T20I against Australia sees him climb four spots to No.10. Despite the best efforts of the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year 2021 in the penultimate over, Australia got over the line with five balls to spare.
Babar Azam, Rachael Haynes emerge ICC players of the month for March
Babar Azam had several thrilling batting displays in Pakistan's multi-format series against Australia recently. He amassed 390 runs in the three-Test series, which the hosts lost 0-1. But Azam's superb contribution was highlighted by his record-breaking innings of 196 in the second Test, which salvaged a draw for his side on the final day in Karachi.
