Known as a significant Brahmin figure in the Vindhya region, historically a Congress stronghold, Shukla played a pivotal role in elevating BJP's seats from 24 to 25 in the recent polls.

Formerly representing the Ujjain South Assembly, Yadav, a thrice-elected MLA, previously held the role of Higher Education Minister in Chouhan's Cabinet.

This pivotal decision transpired during the legislative party meeting convened at the state BJP headquarters.

On Tuesday evening, BJP President JP Nadda convened a four-hour-long meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah at the PM's official residence. The discussion focused on potential candidates for the chief ministerial roles in the three states.

Chouhan conveyed this decision through a video, emphasizing that he was not an aspirant for the position earlier and maintains the same stance now. He asserted that he is a dedicated party worker and will endeavor to fulfill any responsibility entrusted to him by the party.

Both these leaders had actively led the campaign – Kamal Nath from the front, while Digvijaya Singh led the cadre from behind the curtain.
