Madhya Pradesh: BJP and Congress Shift Focus to Upcoming Lok Sabha Contest Post Assembly Polls

Despite the significant margin between the two parties in the assembly elections, the outcome has raised concerns within the BJP when viewed in the context of the Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 28 out of the 29 seats in the state, with the Congress securing victory only in Chhindwara.

Following the recent assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Opposition Congress are adopting strategic measures in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The assembly elections saw the BJP securing a substantial lead with 163 out of 230 seats, while the Congress won 66 seats.

Despite the significant margin between the two parties in the assembly elections, the outcome has raised concerns within the BJP when viewed in the context of the Lok Sabha elections. Analysis of assembly seats in parliamentary constituencies reveals areas where the BJP faced defeat, including Muraina, Bhind, Gwalior, Tikamgarh, Mandla, Balaghat, Ratlam, Dhar, and Khargone. The BJP has responded by holding meetings with candidates who faced defeat, focusing on specific booths where challenges were encountered.

BJP state president Vishnu Dutt Sharma is actively involved in meetings and stays in Bhopal, while Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is touring regional areas to strengthen the party's grassroots presence.

Simultaneously, the Congress, buoyed by the assembly election results, is formulating strategies for the Lok Sabha elections. Congress state president Jitu Patwari, opposition leader Umang Singhar, and deputy opposition leader Hemant Katare have embarked on a joint tour.

Political analysts anticipate that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh will differ from the assembly polls, posing challenges for the BJP. Both parties are intensifying their preparations, determined to secure victory under any circumstances. The elections are expected to be interesting and intense, with any misstep potentially resulting in significant losses for the concerned party.
