Gujarat poll phase-2: PM Modi casts his vote in Ahmedabad

PM Modi cast his vote at Nishant school in the Ranip area of Ahmedabad city. He greeted people on his way to the polling booth and stood in the queue for his turn to vote. After emerging from the polling station, the Prime Minister showed his inked finger to the crowd gathered to welcome him.
Campaigning ends for 2nd phase of Gujarat assembly polls

The first phase of the polling -- held on December 1, witnessed a low turnout of voters. Chief Electoral Officer P. Bharathi said that in 93 seats, there are 2,51,58,730 voters in 14,975 polling centres. Of then, 2,904 polling centres are in urban areas and 12,071 in rural areas. There are a total of 26,409 polling booths.

SVPP stands for Sardar VAllabhbhai Patel Party, PPP- Pachasi Parivartan Party, NMP - National Mahasabha Party, JDP- Janseva Driver Party, and there is even a one Log party. In 2017, 54 such registered but unrecognized parties' 367 candidates contested the elections and polled 1.71% votes, meaning 5,13,030 votes.

A few hours after the Election Commission (EC) announced the Himachal elections on Friday, a meeting was held under the leadership of the PM at his residence. The BJP leaders of Gujarat and Himachal, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and state president C.R. Patil were present in the meeting, said sources.
