Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022

This was revealed by an exclusive CVoter-ABP Gujarat Opinion Poll to gauge popular perceptions and voting intent of adult citizens in the state with a sample size of 22,807 spread across all the 182 Assembly constituencies in Gujarat using random sampling techniques. As per the poll, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as a formidable force in the state and is projected to gather a vote share of more than 20 per cent in the forthcoming elections.

The Congress screening committee has released the first list of 43 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly elections, with Rajya Sabha member Amee Yajnik fielded from Ghatlodia seat in Ahmedabad city, where she will be challenging Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Arvind Kejriwal said, "Today AAP is not announcing the party's CM face but it is announcing the next Chief Minister of Gujarat. He said there is a wave in favour of AAP and also said that all opinion polls will be proved wrong when the Gujarat Assembly poll results are out."

The remarks were made by the CEC after the Congress party, following the "delay" in the announcement of dates for Gujarat Assembly polls, took a jibe at the EC by tweeting that the poll body was an autonomous institution and conducted fair elections. The Gujarat Assembly Elections will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5, while the results will be declared on December 8.

In the same address, he also taunted the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. "Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel made one India by unification of different states ruled by dynasty, whereas one person took the Kashmir issue to a different level." He was referring to Jawaharlal Nehru's stand of UN intervention to resolve the Kashmir issue.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has been continuously touring the state and making election promises based on the Delhi model. Kejriwal recently made his intentions clear by appointing his close aide and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha as the co in-charge of Gujarat.

BJP state President C.R. Patil was also present at the ongoing meeting, where, according to sources, the agenda was the forthcoming elections to the 182-member Assembly. It is expected that the Election Commission, which announced elections to the Himachal Pradesh Assembly on November 12, is likely to announce the dates for Gujarat after Diwali (October 24).

The development comes after the Election Commission noted that the declarations provided by the political parties about the financial ramifications of poll promises are quite routine and ambiguous. The poll panel proposed to mandate the political parties to provide authentic information to the voters to assess the financial viability of their election promises.

The polls have been scheduled for December. In 2017, the Assembly elections were held in two phases -- December 9 and 14 --, while the counting was held on December 18. The state assembly has 182 seats.
