Speaking to mediapersons in a briefing on Tuesday, Hanegbi said the Israeli army is taking a defensive posture in Lebanon not to over stretch its forces as it is in the middle of a waging a war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The Gaza Health Ministry has said that 8,525 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks since the October 7 attacks.

Israel said it's focusing on northern Gaza but continues to strike all parts of the Strip, IDF spokesperson Rear Adm Daniel Hagari said at a briefing Tuesday, CNN reported.

The victims included 3,457 children and 2,136 women, ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qedra said in a statement, Xinhua news agency reported.

He said that several trucks were waiting to be allowed into Gaza Strip and struck on Egyptian side. He called upon Israel to allow more trucks with humanitarian aid into Gaza and added that the ICC was seriously probing into the October 7 massacre in which 1,400 Israeli citizens were killed, more than 3,000 injured and 239 captured as hostages.

The enclave has been pummelled by Israeli strikes since October 7, which has also resulted in over 20,000 people getting injured, the ministry said, CNN reported. 

It hit more than 450 targets over the past day, including command centers, observation posts, and missile launch sites, CNN reported quoting IDF.

"The earth in Gaza shook,” Gallant is quoted as saying in a statement from his office.

This is compared to Gaza's 45-per cent poverty rate in 2017-2018, Xinhua news agency quoted the ESCWA as saying in a statement. "Even if a ceasfire is agreed and humanitarian aid is allowed to enter Gaza, poverty and deprivation will affect a significant share of the population for years to come," ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti was quoted by the release as saying.

The IDF spokesmen confirmed that they had appealed to the people in the Gaza Strip to evacuate only to understand that the Hamas teleosts had blocked the access routes to Southern strip.
