Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden and Indonesia's President Joko Widodo met on the sidelines of the ongoing G-20 summit in Bali in Indonesia, which is the outgoing chair of the group. India takes over the year-long rotating presidency in November and will host the next summit.

PM Modi, who is here to attend the G20 Summit at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, said that the accomplishments of the Indian diaspora makes him proud. "There may be a difference of 90 nautical miles between India and Indonesia, but I want to say that we are not 90 nautical miles far, but 90 nautical miles close," Modi said amid thunderous applause.

In a video uploaded on social media, both PM Modi and President Xi could be seen smiling and shaking hands and later the Prime Minister is also seen interacting with Blinken during the dinner. The Prime Minister is in Indonesia to attend the G20 summit, where earlier in the day, he called for creating a new world order during his address.

They expressed satisfaction about close cooperation between India and US in new groupings such as Quad and I2U2, sources from the Ministry of External Affairs said. Both PM Modi and President Biden discussed topical global and regional developments, the sources added.

Asked during a CNN interview whether he would meet President Putin at the summir, President Biden said he didn't see a good reason for a sit-down."It would depend on specifically what he wanted to talk about," he said, adding if Putin wanted to discuss the jailed American basketball star Brittney Griner, then he would be open to talking.
