Anderson, Broad available for selection for 1st Test against New Zealand: Rob Key

Despite their combined haul of 1177 Test wickets, the futures of both Anderson, 39, and Broad, 35, had been up in the air ever since England's 4-0 Ashes loss. They were not picked in the England squad for the West Indies tour, where Joe Root's side lost 1-0. However, Key -- speaking for the first time in his new role -- said that he had taken soundings from Root's newly appointed successor, Ben Stokes.

The 42-year-old Key will take over from Andrew Strauss, who held the role on an interim basis after the departure of Ashley Giles. Giles left the position after three years, following the debacle of the Ashes, where England lost 4-0 away in Australia. The former England batter will take up the position on an immediate basis and also relinquish his role as one of Sky Sports' commentators.

Shrubsole bagged nine wickets at 29.66 at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022, during England's run to the final. Her best performance in the tournament came in the final against Australia, in which she registered figures of 3/46 in England's 71-run defeat.
