Hemant Soren's media advisor likely to be questioned by ED
According to sources, the ED may record his statements at Ranchi-based office. Pankaj Mishra, another close aide of Soren was sent to the ED custody till August 1. The ED had even recently seized one inland vessel namely M.V. Infralink-III which was allegedly being used Mishra. The ED had on last Tuesday conducted searches in this connection. The estimated cost of the vessel is around Rs 30 crore.
Partha squeals, says money was even collected for railway jobs
"He claims that he was just the custodian. He never asked for any money neither accepted any from candidates. There was a party diktat and he was following orders. He was supposed to sign documents prepared by others. The money was also collected by others and sent to him. He had been instructed to keep the money in safe custody. Hundreds of crores were later taken away for 'party' use. Only a fraction of the sum was confiscated. This is what he has revealed so far," an official said.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths, probing the multi-crore West Bengal Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam, have accessed documents of a luxurious mansion in the name of Mukherjee at Fuldanga area in Bolpur-Santiniketan. The name of the mansion is "APA" - deemed to be derived from the first letter of her name and first two letters of his name. Residents of Fuldanga area have also confirmed that they have seen Chatterjee and Mukherjee coming together to 'APA' several times.

"This case is a classic case of money laundering involving meticulous planning and execution at all three stages of placement, layering and integration of the proceeds of crime generated by Jain and his aides. He acquired cash from unfair means by commission while holding office as a Cabinet Minister in Delhi," the ED said.
Azad, Sharma, Tewari stand with Congress in protests against Sonia questioning
While Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma joined the press conference at the party's headquarter, another leader Manish Tewari was detained for the second time on Wednesday while trying to march towards the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Azad, defending Sonia Gandhi, said: "She is being unnecessary harassed... she's not keeping well and after ED has questioned Rahul Gandhi, what is the need of questioning her."
WBSSC scam: Address of firm with Arpita as director claimed fake
The address in question is that of Echhay Entertainment Private Limited, whose registered address is 95, Rajdanga Main Road, LP-107/439/78, Kolkata - West Bengal 700107 as per the records of the Registrar of Companies (ROC) under the Union ministry of corporate affairs. On Wednesday afternoon, while the ED officials, escorted by the central armed forces personnel, reached the above-mentioned address, they were approached by a local resident with valid documents that showed that the flat is registered in the name of his younger brother's cable television company.
WBSSC scam: Two diaries recovered from Arpita Mukherjee's home may give crucial clues to money trail
The ED sources said that both these diaries have several coded entries, which they believe pertain to the sources of the proceeds collected from the multi-crore West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment irregularities scam. Teachers were recruited against payments of massive sums of money. Some entries, as doubted by the ED sleuths, might be related to making payments to certain individuals to ensure smooth running of the scam process.

Addressing a press Conference here, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "She is not keeping well for many years. When the same things were asked to Rahul Gandhi for five days what was the need for this."
Leader of opposition Mallikarjun Kharge said, "ED is harassing our leader despite her not keeping well."
ED's raids, cases increased manifold during last 8 yrs: Minister
Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary said that the ED carried out 3,010 search operations between 2014-2022 (NDA government's tenure) whereas it was only 113 between 2004-2014 (UPA government's tenure). Thus, the ED witnessed a hike of 27-fold increase in its raids.
National Herald case: ED quizes Sonia for second time
Sonia left the ED around headquarters at around 2 p.m after three hours of questioning by a team of additional director Monika Sharma. Earlier in the day, she arrived at the ED office here along with her daughter Priyanka Gandhi who was seen carrying a medicine box.
