Bhima-Koregaon case: Bombay HC grants bail to accused ex-Prof Anand Teltumbde

A division bench of Justices A.S. Gadkari and Milind Jadhav granted the bail plea of Teltumbde, filed in 2021, challenging an order of the Special NIA Court rejecting his bail application. However, the high court stayed the bail order for a week to allow the National Investigation Agency (NIA) appeal against it in the Supreme Court.

Bombay HC quashes case against Indiabulls, promoters

Earlier in February, the ED had conducted raids in Delhi and Mumbai at the premises of Indiabulls and its promoters. The ED had also written to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in this connection. Indiabulls had approached the Delhi High court, but no relief was granted to the firm. It then moved the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of the case and one magisterial court order passed against the firm.
Bombay HC rejects Nitesh Rane's anticipatory bail plea

Kept in reserve last week as Nitesh Rane was granted continued interim protection from arrest, the much-anticipated order was pronounced by Justice C.V. Bhadang. However, on the court's request, the prosecution assured it will continue its earlier commitment and refrain from any coercive steps against Nitesh Rane till Jan 27.
SC Collegium refuses to confirm Bombay HC judge who gave 'skin-to-skin' verdict

The collegium is headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and comprising Justices U.U. Lalit and A.M. Khanwilkar. On November 18, the Supreme Court set aside her two controversial judgments passed in January this year, interpreting sexual assault provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The top court had said the Bombay High Court's judgements making skin-to-skin contact necessary for offence of sexual assault against a child, undermines her dignity and autonomy, through unwanted intrusions.
Koregaon-Bhima case: HC grants bail to activist Sudha Bharadwaj

A division bench comprising Justice S.S. Shinde and Justice N.J. Jamadar has directed that Bharadwaj should be produced before the Special NIA Court next Wednesday which will impose the bail conditions and finalise her release. The National Investigation Agency, which had opposed her bail plea, has sought two weeks' time stay on the order, hinting it may challenge the high court decision. Bharadwaj becomes the first accused to get a default bail. Earlier some accused like P. Varavara Rao were granted bail on medical grounds while one accused Fr. Stan Lourduswamy passed away in custody in July after a prolonged illness.
Wankhede plea: Bombay HC refuses to 'gag' or 'disbelieve' Nawab Malik

"At this prima facie stage, it cannot be said that the allegations (levelled by Malik) are totally false," said Justice Madhav Jamdar while refusing to accept the plea filed by Wankhede's father, Dnyandev Wankhede, to stop the Nationalist Congress Party leader from posting any defamatory material against the family on social media.
