"During the party election on December 5, 2022, there was only one poll held and that was for party's national President. No other polling took place to elect the President of the JD-U Parliamentary Board. Upendra Kushwaha is only a MLC of the party and not holding any post," he said in a media interaction here. After becoming the national President of the party, Lalan Singh said that there was no committee formed.

During the Samadhan Yatra in Banka, he said: "We have given respect in the party. He left the party and joined thrice. Still, we have given him respect. Gaurav Kumar, an office-bearer at Sinha's office moved an application with the Gandhi Maidan police station and alleged that former personal assistant, Shivam Kumar stole the cash, watch and important documents from his bag. Shivam Kumar is a native of Samar village under the Nanpur police station in Sitamarhi district.

A purported video of RJD national vice president Uday Narayan Chaudhary speaking to Yadav over phone went viral on social media, where Yadav was heard telling his supporters to target "upper castes but not the entire Hindu community".

The former minister had made objectionable remarks on Nitish Kumar, calling him "Shikhandi", "night watchman", and a "beggar". The party had taken it seriously and national General Secretary Abdul Bari Siddiqui had issued a show cause notice to him on January 18 and asked him to submit his reply within 15 days. Sudhakar Singh, after submitting the reply, said that he has not said anything against the party line.

An angry Nitish Kumar was not even ready to hear name of Kushwaha, the party's Parliamentary Board President. "Don't ask me about him. He is in touch with the BJP and alleging that we are in contact with the saffron party. He is free and independent to go anywhere. No one would stop him," he said.

On the 99th birth anniversary of Jannayak Karpoori Thakur, Nitish Kumar went to his native village Karpoorigram in Samastipur district to participate in an event to mark the occasion. During the event, He said: "Some people (Kushwaha) came to the party two years ago and are criticising us with the actual motive of making grounds for leaving the party."
